Distinguished Guests, Faculty Members, Officers and my dear young friends,

It is a matter of great pride to join all of you at Kurukshetra University on this historic occasion as our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji launches the nationwide “Nashamukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyaan.” Through this initiative, more than one crore of young people gathered at 10,000 locations across the country are coming together with one resolve – to build a drug-free and Viksit Bharat.

Kurukshetra, the sacred land of the Bhagavad Gita, has always inspired humanity to choose the path of righteousness, duty and courage. It is therefore most appropriate that from this holy land we renew our commitment to protecting our youth from the menace of drug abuse and inspire them to become ambassadors of a healthy, disciplined and purposeful life.
    My dear young friends,
The future of India does not lie merely in its economy, technology or infrastructure. It lies in the character, determination and aspirations of its youth. A developed India can only be built by healthy, confident and responsible young citizens. Drug addiction is one of the most serious threats to this vision. It not only destroys the health and future of individuals but also weakens families, communities and ultimately the nation itself.
The fight against drugs is not the responsibility of governments alone. It requires the active participation of educational institutions, parents, teachers, social organizations and above all, the youth themselves. Every young person has the power to influence friends, classmates and society. If each one of you inspires ten others to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle, this campaign will become a powerful people’s movement.
I am happy to know that Haryana has planned a series of youth-led awareness and community engagement activities every Sunday for the next 100 weeks under this campaign. These activities will promote fitness, sports, volunteerism, social awareness and community participation while encouraging young people to become active partners in nation-building. I urge every educational institution, every village, every urban locality and every family to actively participate in this movement.
Under the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, initiatives such as Fit India, Khelo India, Skill India, Digital India and Startup India are opening unprecedented opportunities for our youth. When so many avenues exist for learning, innovation, entrepreneurship and excellence, there can be no place for the menace of drugs in the lives of our young people.
Haryana has earned national and international recognition through the outstanding achievements of its sportspersons. Their success reflects discipline, dedication and hard work – the very qualities that can defeat the challenge of drug abuse. I am confident that the youth of Haryana will once again lead by example and become the driving force behind this nationwide campaign.
On this occasion, let us all take a solemn pledge that we will neither consume drugs nor allow this menace to spread in our homes, educational institutions or communities. Let us resolve to encourage our friends to choose education over addiction, sports over substance abuse, and service over self-destruction.
Together, let us make Haryana a model of a drug-free society and contribute to the vision of “Nashamukt Yuva, Viksit Bharat.”

    Thank You! Jai Hind!
