I am delighted to be present at this noble event organized by Maitry Peace Foundation. I sincerely appreciate the Foundation for its dedicated efforts in serving humanity.
Founded under the guidance and inspiration of late Venerable Dhamma Viriyo, Maitry Peace Foundation has emerged as a remarkable voluntary organization working for peace, social welfare and community development. Its work reflects the values of compassion, kindness and service that are essential for building a harmonious society.
I am particularly encouraged by the Foundation’s efforts to support underprivileged and destitute children. Every child deserves care, education and an opportunity to lead a dignified life. Through its homes and welfare institutions across India, the Foundation has provided shelter, education, healthcare and hope to countless children, helping them become responsible and confident citizens.
Education is one of the most powerful tools for social change. The Foundation’s commitment to bringing street children and school dropouts into the mainstream of education is a valuable contribution to nation-building. Such initiatives not only transform individual lives but also strengthen the future of our country.
Today’s Wheelchair Distribution Camp is a meaningful example of compassion in action. By supporting persons with disabilities and improving their mobility and independence, we strengthen our commitment to building an inclusive society where everyone can participate with dignity and confidence.
I also congratulate the recipients of the Gaurav Shree Samman. Through your hard work, dedication and service to society, you have become an inspiration for others.
India’s progress will be truly meaningful only when the benefits of development reach the most vulnerable sections of society. As we gather in Kolkata, a city known for its rich cultural heritage and tradition of social reform, let us renew our commitment to the values of humanity, equality, compassion and service.
Before I conclude, I appeal to all present to support persons with disabilities not only through assistance and donations but also through understanding, respect and inclusion in everyday life. I also urge corporate organizations, social institutions and individuals to join hands in creating a barrier-free and compassionate society. Every contribution, however small, can make a meaningful difference.
I once again congratulate Maitry Peace Foundation for this commendable initiative and wish the organization continued success in its humanitarian efforts.
