    Governor addresses convocation at MCM DAV College

    Chandigarh, April 24 – Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that recognizing the immense potential of Nari Shakti, India is steadily transitioning from women empowerment to women-led development. He highlighted that states like Haryana are witnessing a significant rise in women-led startups, reflecting a growing sense of leadership and entrepreneurial spirit among women.

    The Governor was addressing the annual convocation function of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women (MCM DAV College), Chandigarh here today. First Lady of Haryana, Smt. Mitra Ghosh, was also present on the occasion.

    Describing students as the future of the nation, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that as India progresses towards becoming a developed country by 2047, the role of young graduates in fostering innovation, enhancing skills, and driving entrepreneurship will be crucial. He expressed confidence that students of MCM DAV College will continue to bring pride to their families, institution, and the nation by contributing to a progressive and prosperous India rooted in women-led development.

    Extending his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students, the Governor remarked that a convocation ceremony is not an end but the beginning of a new journey in life, where choices, effort, and determination will shape their future. He added that education opens doors to limitless opportunities, whether in higher studies or professional careers, and emphasized that learning is a lifelong process. True success lies not only in achievements but in continuous growth, he added.

    The Governor also congratulated the management of the college, stating that over the past six decades, the institution has produced distinguished alumnae who have made notable contributions in India and abroad. He appreciated the college’s commitment to providing holistic and meaningful education that nurtures women into intellectually capable, morally strong, socially responsible, and spiritually aware citizens.

    On the occasion, the Governor awarded Ph.D. degrees to faculty members, honoured toppers from Panjab University across various streams, and released the college’s research journal ‘New Horizons’.

    Among those present were Vice President of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, Justice Pritam Pal; ADC to Governor, Sqn. Ldr. P. Bharat; Dean Students Welfare, Panjab University, Prof. Yogesh Kumar Rawal; Principal of MCM DAV College, Ms. Neena Sharma; along with other dignitaries.
