Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh Urges Bengali Community to Draw Inspiration from Haryana’s Rapid Growth
Haryana Governor Extends Pohela Boishakh Greetings, Lauds Efforts to Preserve Bengali Culture
Chandigarh, April 16 – Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh urged the Bengali community to witness and learn from the rapid and holistic development taking place across Haryana in all sectors. He said that the Bengali community, known for its hard work, intellect and rich cultural heritage, should strive to move forward by drawing inspiration from the State’s growth trajectory.
The Governor was speaking as the Chief Guest at the Pohela Boishakh celebrations organized by Bangiya Sanskritka Sammilani on the occasion of the Bengali New Year at Banga Bhawan, Chandigarh. Lady Governor Smt. Mitra Ghosh was also present on the occasion.
Appreciating the role of Bangiya Sanskritka Sammilani in promoting Bengali folk art and lok sanskriti, the Governor highlighted Haryana’s achievements, stating that the State ranks among the top in sports and is rapidly emerging as a hub for education and industry. With the presence of numerous multinational companies and industries, Haryana is also leading in GST collection and per capita income. In light of this progress, he encouraged the Bengali community to align their aspirations with the State’s development momentum.
Extending his greetings on Pohela Boishakh, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh appreciated the efforts of Dr Amit Bhattacharjee for reviving the dying folk theatre art form ‘Jatra – Sonai Dighi’. He lauded the Sammilani for its consistent efforts in preserving and promoting this traditional art, stating that it is a matter of immense pride that the organization continues to keep Bengali culture alive. He said that Bengali festivals and rituals are celebrated here with great enthusiasm.
The event featured vibrant traditional cultural performances presented by members of the Sammilani.
Among those present on the occasion were Secretary to Governor Shri Vijay Kumar Bhavikatti, ADC to Governor Sqn Ldr P. Bharat, PS to Governor Shri Shankha Chatterjee, General Secretary Banga Bhawan Col Deepak De, Dr. Amit Bhattacharjee and other members of the Bangiya Sanskritka Sammilani.
