Distinguished members of the University Court, the Executive Council and the Academic Council, faculty, proud parents and my dear graduating students!

I extend my warm greetings to all of you on the occasion of the 5th Convocation Ceremony of Pt. B. D. Sharma University of Health Sciences.

Today, as I witness 950 graduates receiving their hard-earned degrees and 68 meritorious students being honoured with gold medals in this august Sushruta Auditorium, I see before me not merely young doctors and healthcare professionals, but the future architects of a healthier and stronger India.

At the outset, I pay my respectful homage to Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma—freedom fighter, visionary statesman and the first Chief Minister of Haryana. This University, established in his revered memory, continues to uphold the noble ideal of “Seva Paramo Dharma”—Service is the Supreme Duty.

I take immense pride in the University’s remarkable progress in academics, research, healthcare and public service. Its national recognition in Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy education reflects the dedication of the faculty, students, researchers and leadership. The success of its alumni in India and abroad further strengthens its reputation as a centre of excellence. Through initiatives like tele-consultation services and “Swasthya Aapke Dwar,” the University has also made significant contributions to community welfare and public health outreach.

I would like to especially commend the organ donation awareness movement led by the Vice-Chancellor through SOTTO Haryana. The recent initiatives have brought new hope to many families, truly reflecting that no gift is greater than the gift of life. I also acknowledge the inspiring leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi Ji, whose appeal through Mann Ki Baat has greatly strengthened public awareness and participation in the organ donation movement across the country.

Now I turn to the graduating students. Firstly, let me offer you and your family my warmest congratulations! Today marks not just the culmination of your academic journey, but the beginning of a life of responsibility. Medicine is not merely a profession—it is a sacred duty. Your knowledge must be guided by compassion, your skills by ethics, and your decisions by a deep sense of service to humanity.

This institution has equipped you with knowledge, skill, and the spirit of healing. During your internship, you experienced the trust that patients place in doctors and the satisfaction of relieving pain and saving lives. As you begin your professional journey, always remember that service to humanity is the true essence of medicine.

Our country still needs dedicated medical professionals, especially in underserved regions. I am confident that many of you will step forward to serve society with commitment and compassion. Some among you may also pursue research and innovation, contributing to new discoveries and advancements in healthcare.

Whatever path you choose, never lose sight of empathy, humility, and integrity. Along with caring for others, remember to take care of your own physical and mental well-being.

Once again, my congratulations to you, the faculty and the administration! My best wishes will always be with you.

    Thank you! Jai Hind!
