Surajkund Craft Mela, February 15, 2026
Smt Mitra Ghosh Ji, First Lady of Haryana
Esteemed participants, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
It gives me immense pleasure to address you on the occasion of the conclusion of the 39th Surajkund International Aatmanirbhar Craft Festival, a celebration that beautifully depicts our country’s cultural heritage, creative excellence and our collective aspiration for self-reliance.
I firmly believe that this festival is far more than a cultural gathering. It stands as a powerful and living expression of the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat articulated by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.
Guided by the inspiring mantra of “Local to Global – Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” the Surajkund Mela has emerged as a vibrant platform where tradition harmoniously meets innovation and local craftsmanship gains global recognition.
The sixteen-day-long craft conclave, inaugurated on January 31 and concluding today, has truly embodied the spirit of unity in diversity.
It has celebrated the skill, dedication and creativity of artisans, weavers and folk artists from across India and the world, while simultaneously generating new momentum for intellectual, cultural and commercial exchange.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am delighted to note that Egypt has participated as the Partner Nation for the fourth time, further strengthening our shared cultural bonds and civilizational ties.
The Theme States, Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya, have enriched the festival by showcasing their vibrant folk traditions and rich cultural heritage.
This year’s participation of nearly 800 artists and artisans from over 50 countries, a significant increase over the previous year, clearly shows the festival’s expanding global stature and relevance.
Dear Friends,
The Surajkund International Aatmanirbhar Craft Festival plays a vital role in strengthening self-reliance, enhancing export potential and providing local products with a truly global platform.
It also reinforces our commitment to preserving traditional crafts, ensuring sustainable livelihoods, and promoting meaningful international cultural cooperation.
I am confident that this iconic festival will continue to leave a lasting imprint on the world’s cultural and tourism map, while proudly carrying forward India’s timeless legacy of craftsmanship and creativity.
Thank You! Jai Hind
